Why is it that politicians invariably feel the need to change things?

When some one gets into office there are always problems to solve, that’s why they got into office. The top politicians want to be seen as great. Some even want to have a legacy, a hand of history to be upon their shoulders so they feel they must save the world, stop the arms race, stop climate change, avenge past grievances, be tough on crime etc. All sound good and then whatever good is accomplished they claim the credit for it. And we love them and some even become party memebers to make sure our idols are kept in power to save our country from harm.
