Blue Bins are serviced fortnightly – many businesses would not be able to wait that long on a service given the quantities of cardboard they produce, many would not have the space on their property for the number of bins they would require to store cardboard for a fortnight. Many businesses produce Office paper as a waste but our blue bin takes only newspaper and magazines as paper waste – these two types of paper together are not acceptable to contractors as they would have difficulty separating them. Most businesses do not produce newspapers and magazines in any quantity as waste, with the exception of maybe newsagents. The Council is proposing to introduce a collection for cardboard and office paper from businesses – collected together but separately from blue bin collections – these two products are easily separated and schools and businesses produce these two materials in signifcant amounts.
