Individualistic societies are unrealistic because they are not in line with natural law. People are a society, we are not individuals. We rely on each other and depend on each other. Nobody is “self taught”, in stead of human rights, lets talk about human responsibility. It is a fact that collectivist societies have fewer things like suicides and depression. We encourage greed in this society, which is the cause for monetary crimes. When society is unhealthy, so are the individuals making up society, we encourage unhealthy behavior out of habit and greed (marketing), ergo, fat people. In some ways, fat people don’t have control because of what our unhealthy unrealistic society is giving them. Look at sugary cereals marketed toward kids, they claim to be sources of calcium or of other vitamins, and they show pictures of cartoon kids measuring their hight with smiles on their faces implying that this cereal will help them grow up healthy. Here’s the thing, if there wasn’t all the crappy food around then they wouldn’t have the choice to eat it. We live in a free society, at the moment anyway, with those rights comes responsibilities. However, the government subsidizes certain foods, and it isn’t the fresh fruits and vegetables you see at the grocery store which is why they cost more than the processed crap. The poor in our society are much more likely to be obese than those that have money because they can’t afford the healthy foods. If they bought the healthy foods they would be hungry all the time. If they buy the unhealthy foods, they can afford more and feel full. You can look up this fact in the research that is put out yearly now about obesity in the U.S. (F as in Fat, is the name of the current report). Secondly, the bank was telling people they could afford houses that in all reality wasn’t true.
