Why is it so important to improve presentation skills?
The main reason to improve presentation skills is because when we talk, most people don’t listen for long. When we speak for more than five to ten seconds, our listeners start to listen selectively. Unless we know how to “tune” the way the listen, they will miss what we want them to hear and do something other than what we want them to do. This selective listening is no one’s fault and certainly, no one is to blame. It’s part of how we’re wired. Unless speakers know how to keep their listeners fully engaged, their messages will be given minimal attention and quickly forgotten. Improving presentation skills helps to capture and hold on to a listener’s attention long enough to get the intended message heard and considered.
