Why is it so hard to do other things in Quartus when its compiling?
As mentioned in the preceding answer, Quartus uses a lot of resources when it’s compiling. Be patient with it and give it what it needs. Before clicking the compile button, you should always close down all other programs. Then just click the compile button and watch it chug away, but don’t touch anything. Go get a drink or use the washroom. Don’t touch anything until a pop-up window tells you that compilation completed successfully, or unsuccessfully. • The compile option is grayed out. What’s wrong? You have to have a project open in order to compile. You cannot start Quartus, open a file and tell it to compile. So be sure to always open your project (or create a new one) when you start Quartus. • I get a bunch of warnings when I compile. Are they bad? Always look at the warnings (yellow triangles with exclamation points) when compiling. They are your best aid for determining errors in your design.
