If you don’t specify Black then the assumption is it is a White event. Thus Miss USA is assumed to be white. Black History month was created because this part of history was never included along with White History. It was simply never taught. It was omitted, ignored. I understand your distaste for division but division has been a central part of Black history and experience in the United States. That division has not been perpetrated by Black folks but rather White folks. And yet here we are in 2008 and want to say Black folks did it!! Not.
