Why is it not acceptable to play Gary Glitter songs, but…?
Well, it happened many years ago (at least 20 years ago from what I can gather), it probably happened under the tabloid radar as they weren’t so paedo-mad then as they are now, and I can find nothing to say he was actually convicted for it. He basically didn’t achieve sufficient notoriety, through publicity, for his records to be boycotted en masse. A stranger case is that of Bill Wyman, whose affair with the underage Mandy Smith (who he subsequently married) was very widely publicised, yet he seems to have got away scot free and without any stain on his record. He still enjoys rock legend status and gets invited onto GMTV for cosy little chats on the sofa. In any potted biography of him, his underage shenanigans seem to be written off as a kind of mid life crisis. P.J.Proby is another sixties singer who OPENLY bragged about having had sex with underage girls.
