Why is it necessary to change the Chinese course numbering system?

0

The Chinese language program at UBC has been offering two different tracks for heritage and non-heritage students since the 1990s. However, the two completely different tracks used to share the same course numbers and identical course descriptions, with only Section 003 reserved for non-heritage students. This system did not reflect the current curriculum correctly and have caused numerous confusions and problems for our students and faculty/staff members.
