1) Forest Company’s can get huge fines as it is part of the forest acts and regulations to ensure forest are regenerated and free growing in a set time frame as well as the preferred stocking standards 2) Decrease the rotational age of stands to harvest if clear cuts are replanted rather than naturally regenerated. 3) To ensure that forests are renewable and there are future jobs in Forestry by replanting. 4) Ensure the annual allowable cut (harvest volumes) will be retained at current levels…..if not replanted we will have a fall-down effect in the mean annual increment of harvestable/merchantable wood based on allowing forests to naturally regenerate vs planting. 5) Ensure thermal cover, habitat and food for wildlife will be replaced in the next harvest rotation. 6) The younger trees will produce more O2 than old growth forest stands (+100 year old stands). 7) Ensure recreational activities can be enjoyed in the future.
