Why is it important to reasure adults of the confidentiality of shared information and the limit on this?
Hi.I’m a registered childminder and BY LAW I have to keep all information about children that I care for and their families confidential.Parents need to know that they can confide in you and give you written information which includes medical information and dietary information but which also includes relatively minor things such as likes and dislikes etc. It’s all about trust. The only time we have to break confidentiality is if we think there is a child protection issue e.g. if we think a child is being abused then we can contact the Local Safeguarding Children Board and report it to them.Otherwise, the parent would have to give written permission if any details about their child needed to be passed onto anyone else e.g. if a parent wanted me to take their baby to see a health visitor to be weighed. Hope this helps.
