Why is it important to learn about Hispanic heritage and culture?

Well I’m half Puerto Rican and while I was raised primarily on my non-hispanic side, I learn about hispanic heritage and culture because I know its a part of me regardless. I don’t think non-hispanics have to learn it unless they are interested in it, just like African-American, European, etc… It doesn’t so much relate to my health, but at least I have a little taste of history for my own personal knowledge so I know where MY ancestors, or should I say my father’s ancestors, came from. Knowledge is a good thing. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to know a little bit about your cultural background. Makes you better traveled for if you do visit a hispanic country (or any country for that matter).
