Why is it important to interview serial killers?
An in-depth analysis of interviews with convicted murders allowed us to retrieve first-hand information about their patterns of values and beliefs, patterns of information storage, levels of recall on the crimes, and admission of responsibility for the murders (Profilers, p. 109). An understanding of some of the dynamics behind sexually deviant behavior provides law enforcement officials some insight into the suspects they are trying to identify and apprehend (Profilers, p. 81).
