Extracurricular activities are important to your education because they help you apply what you’ve learned in the classroom, the abstract theories and the philosophies that you’ve learned, to a real-world example. A student government officer, like a treasurer or a leader of a club, learns some very important lessons about political science, about accounting, and about how to communicate with people. Those are all things that you read about in class, but they’re not necessarily things that you get a chance to practice.
