Why is it important to engage in international trade development?
There is no domestic industry that is being spared from international competition. If we fail to advance with the world markets, then we can be suffering a much worse fate in the future. The U.S. trade position has declined from a $12.4 million surplus in 1975 to a 64.2 billion deficit in 2006. If U.S. companies fail to step up to the plate, other foreign companies will and our industries will continue to decline.
