Why is it important to diagnose asthma early?
It is good to diagnose early, so that you may start preventative measures. Asthma is inflammation and bronchoconstriction of the airway. If not diagnosed early, someone can encounter an attack and if not treated properly, their airway will begin to swell and swell from the inflammation…. it will also become tighter and tighter from the bronchoconstriction. This can ultimately lead to cutting off an individual’s air supply and may lead to death. So if diagnosed early, the peson may or may not be given a preventative asthma med to prevent asthma attacks like this. This will also be give a rescue inhaler to help them out during attacks.
