Why is it important to build a personal “Mission Statement”?
Defining and building your personal “Mission Statement” is one of the most important tasks you can do because without a well-defined purpose in life we tend to vacillate and continue to fall short despite our intelligence, creativity and talent. For some reason our public educational system doesnt think the process of self-definition is important, but instead prefers conformity and mediocrity. This is like giving us theory with no application. In a high school shop class on home building they gather materials, equipment and tools, blueprints and then go build a house. You cant build a house without a blueprint and you cant build a life without a blueprint! So often we hear, “I wish I knew what I wanted to do with my life!” from recent school graduates, and even from adults in their twenties, thirties, forties, and beyond.
