Why is it important that IU Athletics has and maintains a generous and loyal group of supporters?
Historically, IU has been able to fund its entire athletic scholarship costs through the generosity of its many financial supporters. While this is becoming a challenge in the current period I believe we can continue to meet this challenge as we go forward. In order to provide our athletes with the best facilities we will be required to make major capital improvements in facilities in the near future. In order to do this our Varsity Club members and other alumni will be called upon for the major support necessary if we want to maintain the quality programs we have historically produced. The Varsity Club is what it is today because of the leadership and vision of the many individuals who have served as board members and officers over the past years. The fact that we have the leading financial endowment in the Big Ten is a credit to volunteers and staff who have worked so hard to make the Varsity Club the success it is today.
