Why is it important for Native American children to be placed in Native American foster homes?
Keeping tribal history, culture and values alive for future generations means keeping children connected with their roots today. The law also requires social service agencies to make every effort possible to place Native American children with family members, tribal members or other Native American families before placing them in non-Indian foster homes.
