So for the physically disabled we have to look at what they can safely do and then encourage that just like we encourage regular physical activity for the nondisabled. Because of tightness of muscles, a child with cerebral palsy needs extra stretching and therapy to safely participate in many activities. It is very important to watch one’s weight, especially if a child does not have normal muscle strength. As they get older and gain more weight, their muscles strength may not continue to improve and eventually this can interfere with their ability to ambulate.
