Why is it cruel to use animal skins to make what you want eg leather handbag?
The real difficulty arises when either an animal is not slaughtered humanely (as is the case in some countries) or the animal is slaughtered solely for its fur so that it gives up its life purely for the vanity of whoever is wearing the fur coat. This is wrong. But the use of animal products for food, and its by-products for other uses, is perfectly acceptable as long as proper slaughter procedures are adhered to.
