Why is it called the Grand Ole Party is the Democratic Party is older?
Not sure but names have changed. The Democratic-Republican Party was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 1792 it became the dominant political party until the 1820s, when it split into competing factions, one of which became the modern-day Democratic Party. The Jefferson Republican Party is a minor political party in the United States. While the party does not have an official party platform it attempts to follow the statements issued by Thomas Jefferson in January 1799 and is supportive of a smaller role for the federal government, of States’ rights issues and limited intervention in foreign matters Its members identified the party as the Republicans, Jeffersonians, Democrats, or combinations of these (Jeffersonian Republicans, etc.). Republican or GOP usually refers to Lincoln party…. but names and ideologies have changed over time.
