Why is it better to take a Microlingual® vitamin tablet then to swallow a regular tablet?

When you swallow a B-12 vitamin tablet, it must be combined with a substance in the stomach called intrinsic factor (IF) before it passes through the liver, where much of the B-12 will be filtered out before it reaches the blood stream. When you take a MicroLingual® vitamin tablet, the B-12 passes through the glands under the tongue and goes directly to the blood stream, bypassing the digestive track. Also, as we get older the digestive system sometimes cannot produce an adequate supply of the (IF), therefore making absorption of B-12 even less effective through ingestion into the stomach.
