Why is it a good idea to have a Career & Technical Center adjacent to Michigan City High School?
It will be easy for MCHS students to get to the Career & Technical Center. Conversely, Career & Technical Center students will have access to core academic classes at the high school. Because it will be a separate facility with its own entrance, the Career & Technical Center will be able to operate evenings and weekends when the high school is not in session. Many of the other successful career and technical centers that staff and community members researched were located adjacent to a high school – just as the A.K. Smith Center was when it was built adjacent to Elston High School in the 1960s.
