Why is Indonesia, especially Sulawesi, so poor?

Well, I think you did not see the perspective here. Indonesia is not a poor country. It is one of the richest instead. Do you realise that Indonesia is one of the most populated country in the world, and that most of the citizen in Indonesia own a mobile phone? Sulawesi island is not poor as well. Do you know the big US companies all racing each other to invest in Sulawesi Island? This is because Sulawesi Island is a host to a big source of minerals and mine activity such as gold, coal, nickel, etc. For example, Newmont has a big company over Sulawesi that brought them a fortune worth more than 60% of their profit in 2005. So, it depends on how your perspective is, Indonesia, in particular, Sulawesi, is not a poor country / island. Instead is one of the richest. And one last thing, do you know that 3 out of 10 high school student graduates in Sulawesi major cities is currently study or has finished their study overseas? They just being humble and not show off of what they have.
