Why is inbound network traffic cheaper than outbound network traffic?
When developing our pricing model for data transfers, we first took into account the underlying data transfer costs. There are two reasons for inbound traffic being priced lower: First, data transfer costs are significantly driven by outbound traffic; second, lower inbound traffic pricing helps overcome initial barriers to adoption.

There are two reasons for inbound traffic being priced lower: First, data transfer costs are significantly driven by outbound traffic; second, lower inbound traffic pricing helps overcome initial barriers to adoption. We are lowering this barrier even further by providing off-peak inbound data transfers at no charge through March 1, 2011.
