IDL is the Interactive Data Language provided by ITT Industries. It is a very common programming language for scientists and engineers because of its ease of use, user-friendly syntax and compiling and the vast suite of libraries and graphical packages available. It is for these reasons that we choose IDL as the language in which to write iCosmo.
