Why is IBM converting to PXE?

0

The main reason for the conversion is that PXE is an improvement to the way our thin client POS terminals are loaded. Also the technology used to build the RPL bootstrap for our previous terminals is very old and is proving to be problematic in expanding its support. This makes it very difficult for us to fix problems with our existing RPL support. As more cost effective Ethernet support is integrated into our Point of Sale Terminals, developing RPL based bootstraps has become costly and time consuming.
