Why Is HRCM much better than the Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) sorbent?
The sorption capabilities of HRCM exceed those of GAC by a factor of 350. Such a big difference is due to the principal differences in material composition. HRCM includes 80% of damaged graphenes (“slices” of carbon 1 atom thick) and 20% of nano-materials (nanotubes and nanorings). This composition provides an extremely large surface area – 25,000 square feet per 1 gram of HRCM. Also, the damaged molecular bonds of graphenes help capture and trap the molecules of contaminants inside HRCM. All those unique material properties result in the unprecedented sorption abilities of HRCM that explain its advantages over GAC.
