While regular Hills Science Diet dry is not very good (has corn meal fillers), HIlls does make excellent canned and dry for dogs with specifics health problems. For a dog with ibd, Hills makes canned food which helps the dog get back to normal, so it is NOT bad at all, probably what your dog requires since your vet prescribed it. I have used Hills canned for specific problems a dog had, it is very good – not at all like their regular drry, so do what your vet advised and feed your dog the specific Hills canned recommended for his ibd – it does work, I’ve done it with some of my dogs (I have 6 and foster many others), it will help. You are right that Wellness is better for a HEALTHY dog, as is the Canidae I feed mine, but sometimes a dog needs special food to get over (or even just maintain) health issues.
