Why is herbal medicine such a rare practice in Canada?

Historically, North America has embraced a generalist type of medical system, where general practitioners take care of the majority of health concerns and specialist are called in when a complex health issue arises. In Europe, the medical system supports individual specialists that can take care of your health concerns (e.g. going to see a homeopath, a herbalist, massage therapist). Herbal medicine is a specialization in natural medicine which is widely accepted in Europe, but unfortunately is not in North America.
