Why is Helios (The Greek Sun God) so important to Greek Mythology?
He was thought to have drawn the Chariot of the sun across the skies leading the sun along with it. It was thought that only he could do this, not even Zeus, the king of the gods could wield the chariot. His son, shows what happens to an uncontrollable ambition. His son desired to drive the chariot to prove to his friends that his father was the sun god. As his son ascended into the skies, he slowly lost control, and when this happened Earth began to wither and catch fire, and to save mother earth, Zeus struck the chariot, and Helios’s son fell down to Earth, and died.
