Why is health care so hard to get when you have preexsisting conditions???
I answered your question in another board, but I’ll repost it here: Insurance is more expensive if you already have health problems because the insurance company knows that you are more likely to need medical attention. Your best bet is to get insurance through work because you should be accepted that way (group insurance is easier to qualify for than individual insurance). However, there are some state-sponsored plans you can enroll in. Contact the California state insurance department for more information. Specifically, California has a high-risk insurance pool for people unable to obtain private health insurance (Iink below). Risk pools are developed to help decrease the cost of health insurance and increase access to health insurance by buying coverage in bulk. The name of the program you would probably be interested in is the California Major Risk Medical Insurance Program (MRMIP). I’ve included a link to a .pdf booklet explaining the program. You can only enroll for 36 months. I
