Why is Haringey not increasing the Council Tax this year?

0

Even though demand for council services has increased, we have managed to freeze the Council Tax and balance the budget by identifying £7.9m of savings across the council. The Council has also managed to invest some additional resources in its priority services, such as Children and Young People and Adult Social Care. The London Mayor is also freezing the Greater London Authority (GLA) element of the Council Tax for the second year in succession. The majority of the funding for the Councils net expenditure comes from Government grant (76%) either through nationally redistributed business rates (30%), revenue support grant (5%) and dedicated schools grant (41%). More detail is provided on pages 71 – 74 of the booklet sent with your Council Tax bill, titled ‘A to Z of Council Services and your Council Tax & Business Rates 2010-2011’. (see attached files section below for a PDF copy of this).
