Why is greenhouse effect bad?

Well, for starters, the greenhouse effect is good – for one thing, it will keep you from freezing to death. Without it the temperature would plunge to well below -100 degrees F at night. Greenhouses work by allowing visible light to penetrate, but by trapping infrared radiation. Thus, the heat created by the visible light is trapped within the greenhouse. This keeps the greenhouse relatively warm even when the outside temperature is very low. My dad’s greenhouse – a very simple building – doesn’t get anywhere near freezing even in the dead of winter.
