Why is gerrymandering done?

0

Gerrymandering is done so that representatives can be guaranteed to be reelected. For example, a district is drawn so that it looks very unusual (example searching “Luis Gutierrez’s 4th Congressional District” on Google Images), but the representatives know that the people in the district they have drawn all have similar views, views that can get said representative reelected because of the way they view their candidate. Hope this helps!
