Why is Germany a target for Al Qaeda even though it did not take part in the Iraq war?
Actually, one very important reason is that Germany is a large layover spot for American Troops returning home from Iraq. I live in NY, and every individual I know, except for one (his unit was removed quickly and outside of the usual channels due to a high mortality rate after a surprise attack) has spent a little time in Germany on the way home, with a short layover at Shannon in Ireland (some other friends made good use of the duty free shop…Irish Whiskey, single malt, yay) than back to the states. Although, I don’t think Al Quaeda is foolish enough to target Ireland. The IRA wouldn’t have as much trouble finding them, seeing as how they’ve used the same training grounds, and, as The Dropkick Murphys have proudly sang, you’ll never beat the Irish.
