Well … I think the main reason is that momentum is building for Fedora and Knoppix. But I’m happy with Gentoo, and, after all, a distro is only Linux and GNU and a package management system. I still run things directly from source or binaries outside what comes with any distro — the PEPA performance modeling program, Protege and a number of Java-based (non-free) sound packages.
