Why is General Mills investing in African relief projects when there is so much need in the U.S. right now?
General Mills is a global company with a proud tradition of philanthropy – and a stated commitment to Nourishing Lives, both domestically and abroad. For nearly a decade, General Mills has contributed about 5% of its pretax profits to charitable causes. In fiscal 2008, General Mills donated nearly $87 million to communities across the United States, Canada, Mexico, China and many other countries. That’s an increase of 6.1% over fiscal 2007 and a 17.5% increase over fiscal 2006.
