Why is Gale retiring the Resource Center brand and concept?
The Internet has changed the way people consume information online. Today’s learners expect their search experience to be more relevant, more engaging and more experiential. Gale’s new In Context learning environment is designed to meet these needs by transitioning from content-based interface design to providing a user experience which integrates content with engaging, highly-relevant and media-rich results delivered in context through Web-like portal pages. Direct feedback from users and study of how they were interacting with traditional research tools revealed that the relevancy of search results, in context, is valued more highly than the sheer number of results returned from a variety of sources. As a result, Gale, along with hundreds of subject-matter experts, identified the most relevant results as related to the curriculum, reduced the number of similar results from multiple sources, and ensured the currency of information — a process we call eliminating ROT, or the redundant,
