Why is fuel more expensive in rural areas than urban areas?
Although rural retail stations have lower sales and turnover, they have similar overheads as their counterparts in urban areas. The greater distances travelled and smaller order sizes mean that total costs are higher. The combination of higher running costs and fewer competitors can result in higher pump prices.
