Why is Fosters Australian for mattress?
One night, late, with college friends waiting for a table at Outback Steak House we wandered into a mattress shop where we pretended to be interested in purchasing a mattress. Fact is, we were all drunk, hungry, and needed a way to waste time. One of the mattresses we were shown was a Fosters. My friend then said out loud Fosters? Is that Australian for Mattress. We exploded in laugher, fell on other beds nearby and were basically asked to leave since it was obvious that we were not really interested in purchasing a $500 mattress before enjoying some onion rings. Nonetheless that quote/unquote joke has stuck with me. Perhaps the best form of advertising.
