Why is filtered water better than tap water?
The Safe Drinking Water Act requires all public water supplies to adhere to high standards that are reviewed regularly by the USEPA to include any new contaminates found to be a threat to the public health. Industrial wastes, agricultural runoff and non-point-source pollution have accumulated in the surface and groundwater to pose new threats that did not exist in the past. New contaminates are added to a list that are evaluated for a long time before being added to the Primary Drinking Water Standards enforced by the USEPA. Meanwhile, questionable chemicals such as disinfectant byproducts, hormones, antibiotics and other organic compounds are present with known links to birth defects, certain cancers and urinary and colon disorders. The USEPA estimates that as many as 254 million Americans are at risk from these chemicals which are targeted by the filters. (Back to Top…) 4. Ive heard a lot lately about lead in drinking water.
