New contaminates are added to a list that are evaluated for a long time before being added to the Primary Drinking Water Standards enforced by the USEPA. Meanwhile, questionable chemicals such as disinfectant byproducts, hormones, antibiotics and other organic compounds are present with known links to birth defects, certain cancers and urinary and colon disorders.
