Why is FGD a good market and what is the size of the market in China ?
While China has been enjoying rapid economic development in the recent years, this fast development has also created a massive problem of pollution and destruction to the environment. Acid rain which is caused by the emission of sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere by industrial or utility plants, is occurring in about 30% of China ‘s total land resources. It is an urgent issue to resolve. The PRC government has been taking this very seriously and passed a law in 1989 to tackle the problem by making it mandatory for newly constructed fire-powered electricity plants to have on-site FGD facilities and by imposing costly fines to plants that discharge sulphur dioxide.
