Why is Fast Food considered so unhealthy, especially in comparison to a burger I grill at home?

There would be a big difference between the burger you grill at home and say a Big Mac (which of course is notoriously fatty because of its ingredients) would depend upon what ingredients you include in your burger at home. Example: If you eat a lean homemade burger without condiments on a bun or maybe low-calorie condiments, it would make a big difference. The food you eat in most fast food restaurants can be just and healthy as the food you purchase from the grocery if you choose wisely. Most fast food restaurants today have healthy menus and there is plenty of unhealthy foods you can buy in your grocery and vice versa. It all about making sensible choices and, if you choose not to go the salad route, be sure to count calories/fat and eat in moderation. Don’t forget Subway! You can build a delicious sandwich of your choice without loading up on fat and calories. My favorite: Turkey on wheat, fat-free sweet onion dressing and fave combination of veggies!
