Why is evening sun cooler than mid day sun?
Absorption and scattering by the molecule matter such as dust and smoke in the atmosphere contribute to the reduction in the intensity of the down-ward moving solar radiation. In the evening, the sun’s rays reach the earth at an inclined angle which means the rays have to pass through a greater extent of the atmosphere(than during noon) leading to more absorption and scattering as mentioned earlier. Moreover, the amount of solar radiation received in a given area diminishes as the inclination of the rays increase. So the intensity of solar radiation is reduced making the sun cooler.
