This research is part of a larger effort by EPA to develop the knowledge and tools that will help product manufacturers, building designers, construction, maintenance and building workers better control indoor environmental quality in the future. This study is part of ongoing research by EPA to study indoor air as it relates to outside air pollution. Outside air pollution does not always stay outside, but travels to indoor environments and may interact with many products such as paint or carpeting or air fresheners. Air fresheners are only one of a number of commonly used household products that are being tested in EPA’s indoor air research program. This study was conducted to find out what emissions result when selected electric plug-in air fresheners are used in the presence of high levels of ozone.
