Egyptians myth is so important, because the Goau’ld (the race that Ra is) took Egyptians from Earth, thousands of years ago and enslaved them on the planet Abydos. The Goau’ld also did not allow them to have advanced technologically either (so that they could never defeat them), because of this, the Egyptian religion of the inhabitants of Abydos remained virtually unchanged.
