Why is diversity essential to balanced and successful workplace?
It’s not. Many workplaces were “successful” long before the forced implementation of “diversity”. Don’t get me wrong. If a minority candidate brings something to the table and would be an asset to the organization, I would have no problem hiring him or her; however, I am in favor of meritocratic hiring and not set-asides or quotas. If anything, forced diversity and affirmative action contributes to cross-racial (and cross-gender) animosity, which is detrimental to the overall workplace environment. Let me guess: You attend an ultra-liberal academic institution and that was one of your homework questions. You’ve got to love how questions like these are phrased… makes me glad I’m out of school.
