Why is diesel more expensive then gasoline?

It is called supply and demand. As more vehicles use diesel fuel, the demand rises. Refiners have to bid for oil to refine, which is why the cost per barrel we read about keeps going up. More vehicles does NOT mean just cars, trucks, buses and construction equipment. Jet fuel is made from the same fractions of petroleum as diesel fuel and any increase in aerial military activity is going to put pressure on the civilian market. Your wallet, and mine, just became casualties of war.
