Why is Devils Garden woodcutting area open and the rest of the forest is closed?
Devils garden woodcutting area has roads surrounding it making a natural fire line. There is a minimal potential for resource damage in the area due to sparse vegetation. The Modoc has agreed to keep an area open for the wood cutting public. Your fuel wood permit from another District will be honored in that area until restrictions are lifted. Follow all terms of the permit and stay in the area at least 45 minutes after cutting to assure that no sparks have started a fire.
